Assistative Technology

As a social worker for the mentally ill and the mentally impaired, I have used adaptive tech. I have seen several individuals get and keep employment when no one thought it was possible. I have had to fight on several clients' behalves just to get an adaptive tech evaluation. Many people do not understand the complicated process one has to go through to get adaptive tech. It is a mound of paperwork, rejection letters, evaluations and then denial by medicaid or the private insurance companies. It is a crime that we restrict the possibilities of individuals based on the denial of funding.

It's a sad system that causes a lot of grief for folks. Those are good lessons for you as a teacher. Keep them in mind.
